Paid search seller leads vs bought leads

A seller who searched for a cash buyer and filled in your form is about the best lead there is. Getting to that point is the expensive part.

Why paid search leads are good, and costly

Intent is the highest of any channel: the seller went looking. The conversation starts warm and often moves fast.

What it costs is a different conversation. This is a competitive, expensive keyword set bid on by national buyers, and you are also paying for a landing page, tracking, and the weeks it takes an account to stop wasting money while it learns. Costs per lead in this category are typically measured in the high tens to hundreds of dollars, and they vary far too much by market for anyone to quote you a reliable figure.

It is also not something you can switch on for a week. An account that has not accumulated conversion data does not perform.

The outbound equivalent

Our sellers did not come looking — they were contacted, and they answered. That is a step below inbound on intent and roughly two orders of magnitude below it on price.

Every lead is sold once, to one buyer, and comes off the board when it is claimed. There is no tier where the same seller goes out to five people.

What most people should do

If you have the capital and are building a durable acquisition channel, paid search is worth doing properly and will keep producing after you have built it.

If you need deals this month, outbound leads are the faster and far cheaper path, and they do not require you to become good at running ads first.

Questions people ask

Are your leads as good as inbound PPC leads?

On intent, no — a seller who searched for you is ahead of one who answered a text. On price they are not comparable at all, and on speed you can be talking to somebody today. We would rather say that plainly than claim they are the same thing.

Can I run both?

Yes, and that is a common setup: ads building a long-term channel, bought leads keeping the pipeline full while it does.
